Broadway, New York is the home of yet another iconic show, Disney’s The Lion King, as it continues its successful run with one more limited showing to be held on Saturday 27th September 2025 in Keller Auditorium, located in Portland, Oregon. With smashing decorations and acoustics found in the interior and exterior of the previously stated theater, locals have said that Keller Auditorium continues to be one of their {favorite|top|favored musical theater locations out of many.

The Lion King narrates the lighthearted yet tragic struggles of a little lion cub named Simba, who is next in line to rule as the King of the Pride Lands succeeding his father. The African savanna however is no stranger to political machinations, as even in this pure and childlike musical, disaster strikes when Simba's father Mufasa is murdered because of the actions of his evil uncle Scar, who harbors a secret hatred for the King of these lands. The young Simba is forced to flee from his home and goes into self-imposed banishment that spans years. While away in the forest, he runs into new acquaintances, Timon and Pumbaa, who live a worry-free lifestyle and influence him to do the same. His relaxed demeanor then suddenly changes when he once again encounters his childhood confidant Nala, who shares the plight of the people with him and appeals to him to save the people of his land.

This complicated plot of tragedy, true friendship, and fearless leadership is intensified by the familiar classic songs, penned by Elton John and Tim Rice. Their original songs, supplemented with added songs and lyrics from other composers such as Zimmer, Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, and director Julie Taymor have contributed to the immense success of The Lion King not only in Broadway, but also in international productions.

The original stage adaptation premiered on July 8, 1997, at the Orpheum theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The show was an instant box office hit and set a standard for contemporary theater, ending up to the show's transfer and beginnings on the Broadway stage on October 15, 1997. Now produced for more than 25 years since its debut, it's now your chance to watch the third longest-running production from Broadway as it comes to Oregon.
