Synopsis

Shucked is set in the fictional farming town of Cob County. The town is surrounded by a thick wall of corn that keeps the community thriving. The story follows Maizy, a sweet farm girl, and Beau, a straight-shooting farm boy, as they’re about to tie the knot in Cob County. But when the corn begins to wither, the townsfolk demand answers. The wedding gets put on hold until the problem is solved. With the help of an unlikely hero, a less-than-trustworthy con man, and a fight for both the heart and soil of Cob County, can the town rescue their harvest and the wedding? Shucked is a hilariously corny new musical about a small Midwest farming town, overflowing with corn jokes and catchy songs!

The cast features Miki Abraham (“Shucked” on Broadway) as Lulu, Tyler Joseph Ellis as Storyteller 2, Maya Lagerstamas as Storyteller 1, Mike Nappi as Peanut, Jake Odmark (“Kinky Boots”) as Beau, Quinn VanAntwerp (“Shucked” on Broadway) as Gordy, as well as Danielle Wade (“Mean Girls” national tour) as Maizy. The cast also includes the talented Zakiya Baptiste, Mackenzie Bell, Carly Caviglia, Cecily Dionne Davis, Ryan Fitzgerald, Sean Casey Flanagan, Jackson Goad, Erick Pinnick, Nick Raynor, Celeste Rose, Kyle Sherman, as well as Chani Wereley.

History & Awards

Influenced by “Moonshine: That Hee Haw Musical” (2015), Shucked premiered in Salt Lake City at Pioneer Theatre Company in 2022. The musical was met with raving reviews, praised for its clever humor and heartfelt country-inspired score, as well as a star-studded creative team! The production opened on Broadway at the Nederlander Theatre, with previews beginning in March 2023. Shucked won big at the 76th Tony Awards. It snagged as many as nine nominations, with Alex Newell winning Best Featured Actor in a Musical. And that’s not all. Shucked also made an impression at the coveted Drama Desk Awards, with Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally winning Outstanding Music, and Alex Newell winning Outstanding Featured Performance in a Musical. 

The show closed on Broadway in January 2024 after 327 performances, launching a 30-city North American tour in fall 2024. Shucked is such a hit that it crossed the pond and premiered in London at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in May 2025, and is making its way to Australia next year.
