Since its premiere at the Teatro Regio in Turin in February 1896, Italian maestro Giacomo Puccini’s masterpiece La Bohème has become one of the most adored operas worldwide. With its beloved arias, libretto that plunges deep from the get-go, striking settings, and unfailingly whip-smart theatricality, La Bohème has captured countless hearts around the globe, and will continue to do so for many years to come. 

The opera in four acts, with a libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa based on Henri Murger’s 1851 tragic tale of love and poverty Scènes de la vie de bohème, has seen plenty of remarkable adaptations over the years, and inspired many modern films, stories, and theatrical productions, such as the hit-musicals RENT and Moulin Rouge!. In short, La Bohème is much like the fresh, fleeting flowers Mimì sings about in her introductory aria, and like everything she adores - charming, full of dreams and wonder.
