Many lifelong fans of Neil Diamond still remember when his 1976 album, A Beautiful Noise, first was released. Hit Broadway musical celebrating Neil Diamond, now makes its way to Portland for several premiers at the iconic Keller Auditorium in Portland, Oregon this winter.
The jukebox musical delighted audiences from the very beginning with a engaging story and catchy songs. The tale follows the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, starting in the present day with Westenberg inside in a therapist’s office. As Diamond, he details how he can no longer perform like he used to while the doctor helps him cope with that realization throughout A Beautiful Noise. The production goes back to Diamond's youth, discussing his introduction to music and all memorable moments since then, including his journey to stardom and fight with depression. But, what long-time Diamond lovers anticipate most is reliving Diamond’s catalog of songs in the Neil Diamond Musical.
This magical two-hour-and-15-minute adventure comprises two acts, the first ending with the timeless classic Sweet Caroline, followed by a 15-minute intermission. After restocking on refreshments, rejoin the show for another hour of beautiful songs and engaging performances.

The Broadway musical revolves around the rise and work of Neil Diamond, featuring his greatest hits performed by a talented cast under the guidance of Will Swenson, including "Cracklin' Rosie", "America" and "Song Sung Blue."
It follows the story of a troubled Jewish artist from Flatbush who creates himself as a performer at Greenwich Village's Bitter End and is repeatedly placed in testing scenarios as he matures.
The 2022 production has won many Chita Rivera Awards, including “Outstanding Choreography” and “Outstanding Dancer” in a Broadway Show. Additionally, the show has been nominated (and sure to win) for both “Outstanding Production of a Musical” and a “Distinguished Performance Award” under the Drama League Awards.
"It is initially a hit parade within a dramatic showcase of Diamond’s 1960s beginnings in the first act, which is subtly followed by a second act that is set of sequined, post-1960s concerts spliced with portraits of a broken marriage and lonely childhood, and then a dénouement of hardcore emotional resolve." Variety shares.
