For a limited time only, the legendary comic opera Falstaff will be returning to Portland, OR on Friday 16th May 2025 at the esteemed Keller Auditorium. Composed by the incredibly talented Giuseppe Verdi and with its libretto inked by the masterful Arrigo Boito, this one-of-a-kind, classic opera is lovingly known as one of the best. Theatergoers return again and again to experience its clever humor, wit, and mischief that isn’t usually a part of opera. Based on the fictional tale about the medieval knightsman Sir John Falstaff, the opera was named after him. This was Verdi’s final masterpiece and leaned towards comedy unlike his previous catalog of work. It would be nigh impossible for spectators to stop laughing at Falstaff, Alice Ford, Meg Page, and the other characters as they cause mischief on stage with entertaining and utterly humiliating moments! This is your unique chance to experience opera like never before. Book your tickets now to secure your spot!

The opera Falstaff reworks Shakespeare’s infamous Henry IV and The Merry Wives of Windsor. The show follows Sir John Falstaff. After misfortune, he devises a plan to win over Alice Ford and Meg Page (the wives of two very rich men) for his personal financial gain. This results in a number of plots and counterplots between Falstaff and the other brilliant characters. At its core, this show is a hilarious cocktail brimming with fun and mischief, but also confusion and deceit. Throughout the opera, you’ll find yourselves in stitches of laughter!!
Whether you’re a diehard opera fan or a complete novice, Falstaff is the ultimate show for anyone looking for a great night packed with entertainment. Both composer Giseuppe Verdi and librettist Arrigo Boito avoid the conventional dramatic approach. Instead of following the serious themes we associate with opera, Falstaff is an intentional comedy show which shines a light on just how diverse opera can actually be!!
Falstaff will be performed by leading actors and singers, including Darren Drone (Sir John Falstaff), Kearstin Piper Brown (Alice Ford), and Rehanna Thelwell (Mistress Quickly) among others. This star-studded lineup will also be joined by the talented Nicholas Fox and David Radamés Toro as the conductor and stage director of the opera, respectively.
Don’t miss your chance!! Experience this comedy opera extravaganza in Portland this May!! Falstaff will be taking over the stage at the esteemed Keller Auditorium for a limited run. Both critics and audiences alike have been stunned by the amazing production. “Henry Waddington relishes every moment as the blustering Sir John in a sustainably staged production of Verdi’s final opera, played and performed with an unfailing sense of humour,” praises The Guardian. All the while, Opera Wire raves, “The vocals in “Falstaff” were so sparkling and joyous that they left the entire audience grinning from ear to ear. And when the curtain came down, the auditorium filled with shouting and clapping equally as energetic as the singing.” Now, you get the once in a lifetime chance to experience what all the fuss is about live and up close! Seeing as this is a limited engagement, we highly recommend securing your tickets now to avoid disappointment.
